In the summer of 1773 Donald Ruadh Mac Crimmon, who was born on the Isle of Skye, emigrated with his wife and two sons to "Anson County" in North Carolina U S A. Donald obtained the rank of Lieutenant in the 84th Regiment of the "Royal Emigrants" and was involved throught the "American War of Independence," captured and eventually escaped with his family who made their way to Shelburne, Nova Scotia in 1783. Donald's family consisted of his wife, (name unknown) four sons, Patrick, Malcolm, Peter and Donald plus one daughter, (name unknown). We believe that Malcolm and Donald were born in Scotland and that his sister was born in North Carolina. Lt Donald Ruadh Mac Crimmon left Nova Scotia in 1799 with his small family for Scotland, leaving behind their son Peter. It is believed that Peter married a girl Hannah, they had a son named "Jesse". -FROM the MORMAN CHURCH RECORDS of CHRISTIENING listed as follows:
Jesse Mc Crimmon (M) c: 31 Oct, 1791.
Peter Mc Crimmon (M) Christ Church, Shelburne, N/S.
Hannah Mc Crimmon (F). Parishes of St George and St Patrick, Shelburne, N/S.
Jesse's grandfather, Lt. Donald Ruadh Mac Crimmon, left Shelburne, Nova Scotia in 1799 with all his family except Peter, Hannah and Jesse. Where did this family disappear to as there are no records of any sort left re them? Lt. Donald Ruadh Mac Crimmon was born in the Parish of Duirinish, Inverness-shire, Isle of Skye, 1743, his wife's name is unknown, d: 1825.
